The “Razor Blade” of Zion Canyon

       Just like a blade the Virgin River has cut it’s way through the ancient sandstone of Zion creating the majestic Zion Canyon. Viewed on Google Earth you can see the results of millions of years of canyon creation all from this little river.

Since I’ve been here the river has been flowing too fast for visitors to traverse “the narrows” up canyon. The water has been flowing at a rate of 450-650 cubic feet per second. It needs to flow below 120 cu ft/sec in order to be safely walked.
