Update at the bottom of this post
Curiosity and a cactus somehow got the best of Blue’s neck.
There are various types of cactus around this area and hidden in the underbrush.
While at the Desert Vet in Hurricane, UT we were visited by the resident (three-legged) cat. The cat jumped onto the chair next to us and put it’s nose on Blue’s nose. I was quite surprised, Blue had no reaction and the two seemed to be long-time friends. After an exam the Vet speculated Blues neck was poked by a spine followed by major infection and swelling. Tests were done at the Vet. So once again it’s time for antibiotics, Amoxicillin. Remember, last year at this time Blue was on antibiotics for Giardia.
Going Home, Blue sits in his safety harness
UPDATE: 1/30/2012 It’s remarkable what one weeks worth of Amoxicillin (14 x 250m) will do for a major infection. I’m so happy this injury has healed so well and hoping it will continue even though the final dose is this evening.
before and after one week of meds.
