Blue Angel Visits South Campground

Filed Under Interesting People, Zion National Park . Utah

Although the real Blue Angels visited Zion earlier this week, we never saw them. We could hear them coming and going but they made their visit so quickly I don’t think anyone  got a picture of the precision team’s flyover, except the Department of Defense. The photo they shot and posted is below. The only way to  see  them for sure was at last weekends Thunder Over Utah Air Show in Saint George, UT about 40 miles from here.

But we did get a second best today when Col. Steven A Blevins pulled into campsite 100 towing a replica cockpit of a Blue Angel behind his diesel truck. He’s just camping he says, but is prepared for kids and curious campers and dreamers to invade his site. He’s made it a mission to travel across country visiting air shows and scenic places while making his way back home to West Virginia. Blevins has a business taking photos of people in the pilot seat. He’s returning to Zion for the first time in 32 years and said this place was on his bucket list of places to revisit.
