My buddy Larry Slowik stopped by for a couple of days this week. He attended the Tiger Woods Golf Open in LA and thought he’d swing by Bakersfield for a visit on his way back to Portland. I think in everyone’s life there comes a person who makes a difference and changes your life. Larry is one of those fellows. He’s the most laid back person I know. Nothing seems to bother or rattle his demeanor and he’s blessed with a great sense of humor. I think that’s admirable and an inspiration. He keeps life in perspective and can laugh at it when necessary. I’ve known Larry, Patty, and their two boys, Brent and Chris for 32 years. We don’t hang with each other and we might go for a year or more without connecting, yet it’s like no time has passed between us. But, it’s always special when we get together. Thanks for stopping by, Larry!!
Aside from being an avid golfer, Larry is also a retired television news and production photographer who would love to be Golfer of the Year. Sharing professions is how we met back in Boise, ID in the seventies. We all migrated to Portland in the eighties, working at three different network television stations.
